We’re excited to kick off ALVA’s soft launch at the Second Life Living Expo, an event in support of the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. Being part of the Expo is more than just a soft launch— it’s a chance for us to support a cause that makes a real impact. We’re honored to contribute to the American Cancer Society while introducing ALVA to the world, showcasing its potential, and engaging with the community in a meaningful way.
Current Bugs & Fixes in v0.5
With any early launch, there are always a few hiccups! Here are some of the key issues we’ve identified so far and what we’re doing to address them:
✅ Request ID Errors – Some users have reported that their request IDs don’t match, despite the ring working as intended. This issue has already been fixed!
⚙️ UI Overlap in Customization Settings – We’re working on adjusting the interface to fix text spillage where overlaying text can make customization tricky. This issue has already been fixed!
✍️ Weird Apostrophe Replacements – Occasionally, ALVA replaces apostrophes with a string of text like “u2019”. We’re investigating this issue to ensure proper text formatting.
💬 Consent & Confirmation in Multi-User Settings – When multiple people interact with ALVA for the first time, our current consent system doesn’t indicate in local chat who the AI is speaking to. We’re working on two possible solutions:
- Sending a private IM to the person interacting
- Having the AI call out usernames in local chat for clarity
📌 Double Menu Pop-Up – When clicking on the ring, two menus currently load instead of one. We’re aware of this and working on a fix to streamline the user experience.
We’re prioritizing fixes for Request ID errors, UI overlaps, and multi-user consent before our official launch on February 22nd, 2025. While these bugs are minor inconveniences, they don’t affect ALVA’s overall performance, and we’re ensuring that everything runs smoothly for users.
What’s Next?
🚀 Our next big update will introduce a redelivery system for activated versions of ALVA, making it easier for users to get the latest updates without hassle.
📋 We have a Google Form for bug reports and feature requests. While we welcome direct messages, using the form helps us keep everything organized for our quarterly bug fixes and improvements.
