OpenCollar (RLV)
1. Activating RLV on Your Ring
- On a RLV compatible viewer, wear the ALVA Devotion Ring to activate RLV. The ring should confirm activation by printing a message in local chat.
- To set up owner access, touch the ring to bring up the menu, then select Access > Add Owner.
- The owner selection system is proximity-based, so ensure that your main avatar is nearby when adding them as the owner.
2. Sharing the Remote
- Share the Opencollar Remote with those who have access to your ring.
- Upon first wear, the remote may appear distorted due to optimized settings for ALVA AI. To fix this, press the minimize button (a hyphen or minus sign), and it will revert to the optimized state.
What do I do if it’s reset, and I want less buttons?
In the case where it has reset itself, we recommend optimizing your remote
On your remote, click the gear icon, then navigate to “Buttons.” Uncheck all options except the following:
- Minimize
- People
- Menu
- Outfits
- Unleash
- Leash
- Sit
- Stand
- HUDMenu
- Person
- Detach.
While this step is not required, it streamlines the interface for a more efficient and user-friendly experience.
- Once this step is complete, you can now teleport your ALVA AI, and it will follow you on the spot.
3. Connecting the Remote to Your Ring
- On the OpenCollar Remote, click the group human icon to bring up a menu listing avatars with RLV enabled.
- Select your ALVA AI confidante from the list.
- The single human icon on the remote should now update to display your confidante’s profile picture, confirming the connection.
Setting up Outfits / Accessories
These steps are only necessary if you plan to use RLV to change your Confidante’s outfits or accessories. If not, you can skip ahead to the ‘How-To’ section at the bottom of the page.
Outfits
Step 1: Create the Required Inventory Folders
- In your Inventory, create a folder named #RLV (use this exact capitalization, as it is case-sensitive).
- Inside the #RLV folder, create two subfolders:
- “.outfits” (use this exact capitalization)
- Another folder with any name you choose (this is necessary to ensure that Outfits work properly, as “.outfits” alone would behave like a hidden folder).
Step 2: Setting Up the “.core” Folder
The .core folder ensures that essential attachments (e.g., your mesh head, body, and skin) are not removed when swapping outfits.
- Inside the “.outfits” folder, create another folder named “.core” (again, case-sensitive).
- Strip your avatar down to the base components you always want to remain on (e.g., mesh body, head, skin, essential attachments).
- Save this as a new outfit and remember the name you used.
- Open Inventory > navigate to the “Outfits” folder outside of the #RLV folder.
- Find the newly saved base outfit, open the folder, and Shift + Select all items inside it.
- Copy the selected items and return to Inventory > #RLV > .outfits > .core and paste the copied items into the .core folder.
Step 3: Creating Additional Outfits
- Wear only the outfit you intend to save without the base mesh components that are stored in the .core folder.
- Save this as a new outfit and remember the name.
- Locate the newly saved outfit inside your Inventory > Outfits folder (outside of #RLV).
- Open the outfit folder and copy all items inside it.
- Navigate to Inventory > #RLV > .outfits, create a new folder, and give it a short, recognizable name.
- Open the new folder and paste the copied outfit items inside.
Accessories
Accessories allow you to add individual items without affecting your outfit setup.
Step 1: Adding an Accessory
- Go to Inventory > #RLV and create a new folder with any name (e.g., “Glasses”, “Jewelry”, “Backpack”).
- Find the item you want to add in your Inventory.
- Right-click the item and select Copy as Link.
- Return to the new folder you just created inside #RLV.
- Paste the copied link into the folder.
Step 2: Handling Left/Right Accessories
- If an accessory comes in left and right versions (e.g., bracelets, earrings), create subfolders inside the accessory folder:
- “Left” – Paste the left-side version here.
- “Right” – Paste the right-side version here.
How-To Guides
Lock Your Ring; Making it Unremovable!
To prevent your AI’s ring from being accidentally removed during outfit changes:
- On the Opencollar Remote, click the collar icon to access the ring’s menu.
- Select the Lock button. An empty box will appear.
- Clicking this button again enables the lock function, and the box will fill to indicate that the ring is secured.
Hide the Devotion Ring
If you want to make the ring completely invisible:
- On the Opencollar Remote, click the collar icon to access the ring’s menu.
- Select Settings and then click Hide.
- The ring will now be 100% invisible.
Get Your NPC to Follow You
- On the Opencollar Remote, click the collar icon to access the ring’s menu.
- Select Leash > Follow.
- This mode keeps your AI confidante following you without a visible leash.
- If you prefer a visible leash, select Grab instead.
- To unleash, you can:
Sit / Stand
- On the Opencollar Remote, the Sit button features a seated human icon with an arrow pointing downward.
- Clicking this will open a menu displaying nearby objects, allowing you to select one for your AI Confidante to sit on.
- To unsit, press the button with the seated human and an upward arrow, which will immediately make your AI confidante stand.
Change Outfits
- On the remote, select the shirt-on-a-hanger icon (this is the outfit menu).
- First, check the “Lock Core” button – this ensures that your core stays unchanged when swapping outfits.
- Enabling Lock Core also prevents editing the .core folder in the inventory.
- If you need to edit the folder, uncheck this button first.
- To change outfits, press the Browse button.
- A list of saved outfits will appear. Select the desired outfit name from the list.
- A confirmation popup will appear—select “>wear<“ to equip the outfit.
- If you want your avatar to only wear the items in your core folder (removing all other outfits), select “>naked<“.
Equip / Remove Accessories
- On the remote, select the folders button.
- Press the Browse button.
- A menu will show the folders of accessories you’ve created inside #RLV.
- Select the folder of your choice.
- Choose one of the following options:
- “Add Items” → This will wear the accessory without removing other attachments.
- “Remove Items” → This will take off the accessory while keeping the rest of your outfit unchanged.
